There have been a lot of studies about who sexually abuses. It almost always comes back to men.
It is mostly adult men who abuse boys and girls. These men could be lawyers, doctors, criminals, teachers, priests, bus drivers, movie stars. You usually can't tell from the outside if someone has molested, but there are signs to watch for. If your uncle, teacher, neighbor, family friend makes you feel uncomfortable when he looks at you, if he is too "touchy feely" when he is around, or if he makes you plain uncomfortable, SAY SO! Tell him with words and actions that you want him away from you, then go tell a trusted adult.
The studies about women molesting almost always point to women who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric illness such as schizophrenia, paranoid schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder. Some women who are alcoholics and drug addicts have also been known to abuse. Women who are sexual abuse survivors, however, rarely try to molest. On the other hand, studies indicate that males who have suffered sexual abuse do sometimes become abusers themselves. Even so, the women who have suffered sexual abuse and have never received help, tend to be in denial. They often marry abusers and consequently fail to protect their daughters.
For the most part, women do not sexually abuse children. Sexual abuse is about power, a big person powering over a smaller person. It is wrong and it has to stop!
It is
the survivor's fault!!!!
